3 Days in Beautiful Dubrovnik 🤗
We flew into Tivat, Montenegro, and from there took a direct bus to Dubrovnik.
Unfortunately, the bus arrived more than an hour late, and the journey was extremely congested. At times, traffic barely moved at all. During the summer months, this region experiences significant traffic, so patience is definitely required when traveling between Montenegro and Croatia.
We purchased our bus tickets online before the trip – Link
Internet
We used an Airalo Europe eSIM, and it worked perfectly throughout the trip.
From Dubrovnik’s main bus station, we took a local bus to our hotel.
Where We Stayed
Rixos Premium Dubrovnik
We stayed at Rixos Premium Dubrovnik, which is located about a 15-minute downhill walk from the Old Town. For the return trip, we usually took the bus, as there’s a convenient stop nearby.
The hotel has an excellent location, breathtaking sea views, and a private rocky beach area.
Breakfast was outstanding, rich, varied, and beautifully presented. There was even a pianist playing live during breakfast, creating a wonderful atmosphere. And yes, they serve champagne at breakfast! 🥂
One thing to keep in mind: Dubrovnik is extremely crowded during the summer.
Our recommendation is to enjoy the hotel and pool area during the mornings and explore the Old Town and attractions later in the afternoon and evening. In the mornings, large numbers of cruise ship passengers arrive in the city, while by late afternoon many of them have left, making the streets much more pleasant to explore.
Things to Do
1. Walk the Dubrovnik City Walls
One of the city’s most iconic attractions.
The full circuit takes approximately one hour and offers spectacular views of the Old Town, the Adriatic Sea, and Dubrovnik’s famous terracotta rooftops.
A must-do experience for first-time visitors.
2. Game of Thrones Tour – Link
We booked our tour through GetYourGuide.
The tour was excellent, and our guide was fantastic. She shared fascinating stories not only about the filming locations used in Game of Thrones but also about Dubrovnik’s rich history and culture.
If you’re a fan of the series, it’s definitely worth doing.
3. Sky Bike
Located near the cable car station, the Sky Bike experience lets you cycle along a suspended cable high above the landscape.
It’s a unique and fun activity, and the views are absolutely incredible. 🤩
Food, Bars & Recommendations
Cave Bar More
One of the most unique bars we visited.
As the name suggests, it’s located inside a natural cave filled with stunning rock formations. The atmosphere is unlike anywhere else.
We reached it by local bus in about 10 minutes.
Lady Pi-Pi
A famous restaurant located above the Old Town, near the city walls.
Reservations are not accepted, and the restaurant opens at 6:00 PM. Be prepared to wait in line, sometimes for quite a while, as it’s very popular.
The food and views make it worth the wait.
Buža Bar
Without a doubt one of the most memorable spots in Dubrovnik.
This bar is built directly into the outer side of the city walls on the cliffs overlooking the sea. The views are spectacular, especially at sunset.
Many visitors spend their time watching people jump from the rocks into the Adriatic below.
A perfect place to enjoy a drink and take in the scenery.
Holy Burek
Burek is a traditional Balkan pastry that resembles a filled savory pie or bureka.
Holy Burek offers several different fillings, and everything we tried was delicious. 😋
Located within the Old Town.
Peppino’s Gelato
A popular gelato shop in the Old Town.
Highly recommended and absolutely delicious, perfect for cooling down on a warm summer day.
Final Thoughts
Dubrovnik is absolutely charming.
Between the stunning medieval architecture, crystal-clear Adriatic views, delicious food, and unforgettable sunsets, it’s easy to see why it’s one of Croatia’s most popular destinations.
We had an amazing time and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay.
Enjoy your trip! 🤗
