One Week in Argentina 🇦🇷 – Patagonia, Glaciers & Buenos Aires
As part of our 3-week South America trip, we spent an unforgettable week in Argentina.
For years, I had dreamed of seeing the incredible landscapes of Patagonia, and it completely exceeded my expectations. 🥰
We based ourselves in El Calafate and took several day trips from there to explore the region.
Arrival in El Calafate
We landed at El Calafate Airport and took a shuttle to our hotel.
When we arrived, there was availability on the shuttle, but on the way back we hadn’t booked in advance and there were no seats left, so we had to take a taxi instead.
I highly recommend arranging airport transportation ahead of time.

Perito Moreno Glacier 🧊
The famous exploding glacier.
Incredible. Massive. Powerful. Stunning.
It’s impossible to describe the scale of Perito Moreno Glacier until you see it with your own eyes. 🤩
We booked shared transportation through our hotel and explored the park independently.
I recommend purchasing entrance tickets online in advance, although they can also be bought at the entrance.
Glacier Boat Tour
We also took a boat tour that gets close to the glacier.
Highly recommended! 👌🏻
During the cruise, we watched ice break away from the glacier and crash into the water.
We were even lucky enough to witness a major ice collapse from close range (although I was too busy watching to take a photo!).
After the boat ride, we took the free shuttle to the main viewing area and walked along the network of boardwalks.
The different viewpoints offer spectacular perspectives of the glacier.
Absolutely breathtaking. 😍🥰
There is also a restaurant and visitor facilities inside the park.
Tours with Wildlife Adventure
We booked two full-day tours with Wildlife Adventure.
Both tours were excellent, and the guides were fantastic.
Highly recommended! 👌🏻

Fitz Roy & El Chaltén ⛰️
One of the highlights of Patagonia.
We chose one of the shorter hiking routes, although there are several options depending on fitness level and available time.
The scenery throughout the hike was stunning.
We were lucky enough to see Mount Fitz Roy clearly before it disappeared behind the clouds.
Our guide was lovely and shared information about the area throughout the day.
After the hike, we had free time and lunch in El Chaltén.
And of course, we couldn’t leave without trying some delicious alfajores. 🤤🤤🤤
We had an amazing day and highly recommend this excursion. 👌🏻
Torres del Paine, Chile 🇨🇱
One of the most beautiful day trips of the entire trip.
We crossed into Chile to visit Torres del Paine National Park.
The day was absolutely perfect. 🥰
Our guide was excellent, and the landscapes were unforgettable.
We completed a hike of approximately 1.5 hours and made several scenic stops along the way.
Every viewpoint seemed even more beautiful than the last.
The park is incredibly picturesque, dramatic, and impressive.
I loved every minute of it. 🤩
Estancia 25 de Mayo 🐑
One evening, we visited Estancia 25 de Mayo, a traditional Patagonian ranch experience.
This was a wonderful way to learn about local culture and life in Patagonia.
Upon arrival, we were introduced to life on the ranch and served a traditional local drink.
We watched a sheep-herding demonstration with working dogs and learned about regional traditions.
Our guide was fantastic and made the experience engaging and fun.
After the tour, we enjoyed a delicious dinner accompanied by music, dancing, and live entertainment.
The hospitality was outstanding, and we had an amazing time. 😍

Buenos Aires 💃
Before our international flight, we had a full day to explore Buenos Aires between flights.
We left our luggage in the airport storage facilities and used Uber to get around the city.
La Boca
One of the most colorful and vibrant neighborhoods in Buenos Aires.
The streets are full of brightly painted buildings, music, artists, restaurants, and shops.
I took countless photos because every corner was beautiful. 😍
Lunch at El Gran Paraíso
We had lunch at El Gran Paraíso and everything was delicious. 🤤
Highly recommended if you’re visiting La Boca.
Señor Tango
From La Boca, we continued to Señor Tango for an evening show.
The performance included talented dancers, singers, and musicians celebrating Argentina’s famous tango culture.
There is also an option to combine the show with dinner.
The venue itself is beautiful, and the performance was absolutely spectacular.
A truly memorable experience and one of the highlights of our time in Buenos Aires. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Internet
We used a global eSIM purchased through Trip.com.
It worked throughout almost all of our South and Central America travels.
The only country where we needed a separate solution was Bolivia.
One tip: manually switching between available mobile networks sometimes improved reception.
Final Thoughts
Argentina was an incredible destination.
Patagonia amazed us with its dramatic mountains, glaciers, and unforgettable natural beauty.
Buenos Aires offered a completely different experience, full of color, music, culture, and energy.
The combination of breathtaking landscapes and vibrant city life made Argentina one of the highlights of our South America adventure. 😍
Enjoy your trip!
